Bexleyheath andCrayford Conservatives held their Annual General Meeting at the Bexleyheath Conservative Club on Friday evening. (27/2) At the packed meeting members were given reports by retiring Chairman Cllr. David Hurt on the past years social and political activities and from retiring Treasurer Jean Smith on the Associations finances.
After the formal business, which included the election of officers to serve for the coming year members turned their attention to the forthcoming General Election and Bexley Council Elections.
David Evennett addressed the meeting and spoke about Conservative policies for the General Election and highlighted the fact that “Labour has failed during its 13 years of government and Britain deserves better. Our country is crying out for change and only a Conservative government under David Cameron can deliver that change. The General Election will offer the people a direct choice between 5 more years of Gordon Brown or a new beginning under the Conservatives. We have the policies, the people and the determination to implement change”.
He highlighted the key areas of the NHS, the economy, the family, education, crime and immigration where Labour had failed the people of Britain.
Council Leader Cllr. Teresa O’Neill reported on the successes of the past 4 years of Conservative control of Bexley Council and presented the Conservative Manifesto for the next 4 years.
